Factors Predicting the Quality of Life in Thai Women with Hysterectomy by Malai Wongsrisunthorn in Trends in Telemedicine & E-health Aims and background: Quality of life is the standard outcome in health care system. Hysterectomy is the most common treatment for women with gynecological problems. Loss of uterus is perceived as the loss of female identity in women especially those in the reproductive age, have partner, low educational level, no funds saving. These factors might influence the quality of life after surgery. Purpose of this study was to assess factors that predict the quality of life in Thai women after hysterectomy at Ramathibodi hospital. Methods: This descriptive predictive research was studied in 132 women who had hysterectomy at Ramathibodi hospital between January 2013-March 2016. The instruments were (1) the personal data and health status questionnaires developed by the researchers, and (2) the World Health Organization Quality of Life-Thai versi...

Telemedicine in the COVID-19 Era: Strengths and Weaknesses_Crimson Publishers

Telemedicine in the COVID-19 Era: Strengths and Weaknesses by G Olmo in Trends in Telemedicine & E-health Telemedicine (TLM) has a great innovation potential, and this fact has emerged dramatically in this pandemic period. Besides the monitoring of COVID-19 patients themselves, TLM can improve the followup of affected by chronic diseases, whose access to hospitals and outpatient structures is limited due to the risk connected with the pandemic and the overload experienced by the medical structures and personnel. Hence, this period represents an occasion to experiment new care models. For these purposes, we have implemented a TLM system to help clinicians in the follow-up of COVID-19 patients both in hospital and at home. The same infrastructure has great potential of applications in other fields, e.g., neurodegenerative diseases. During our experiments, we have pointed out some strengths and weaknesses of this novel approach to care. Our conclusion is that, whereas t...

Kinetics of Development of Covid19 and its Prediction Possibilities in the Case of a Small Statistical Set-The Case of Latvia by  Lilian T in  Trends in Telemedicine & E-health Models of kinetics of development of COVID-19 are essential for prognosis and preparedness of medical facilities for treating of patients. Methods:  We built a predictive model based on theoretical formulas for normal distribution and corrected it based on real number of cases in Latvia. The process included two stages: (I) simple modelling for distribution of cases without accounting for a state of emergency; (II) correction of the model for changes due to a state of emergency and a real situation. A choice of model parameters was performed comparing the real and the theoretical cumulative curves and based on the least sum of square. Considering in addition the tiredness of people to follow a state of emergency rules, we modelled the cumulative number of cases in Latvia till the end of 2...
